sign (poem by Florin Caragiu, English translation: Simona Sumanaru)
tonight I fall asleep on this thin arm
a bracket of unanswered questions
death is a stone block
ground by the muttered name
you hide inside me and wait for me to find you
in between my ribs and God’s hands
words are loose in my gums, I can no longer bite off
the baked sun from your teardrop
you suddenly rise up and take my heart into your palms
I never knew that in between one’s ribs
there is room for so much unearthly sharpness
(poem published in the volume "catacombe. aici totul e viu" ("catacombs. everything is alive here"), Vinea Publishing House, Bucharest, 2008, p. 11. English translation: Simona Sumanaru)
